A very lucky French tourist fell 75 feet from a popular overlook on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon last week and lived to tell the tale.
The unnamed 18-year-old was taking photos at Mather Point when he slipped over the edge. Rescuers rappelled down to his aid and he was transported out by helicopter about an hour and a half after they responded. The park service said in a press release the tourist suffered non-life threatening injuries to his neck, wrist and ankle. Read More at USA Today.
I don’t know why people takes these risks, but I think we have all witnessed a near similar incident or we might have been the tourist that unknowingly took the wrong step.
